An application based on the application of population data, identification, and electronic authentication is developed by the National Population Data Center - Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.
A VNeID application is required for people who live or travel in Vietnam.
The VNeID application can replace traditional paper documents, identify citizens in the digital age, provide utilities for developing digital citizenship, digital government, and digital society, and help citizens declare medical reports. Further, the application enables the authorities to track secondary COVID-19 infections and notify the people promptly.
By using the Application, the User grants access to the following functions to the Application:
- The user's device must be able to access the Internet
- Using the camera to scan the QRcode on the CD card simplifies entering basic information about citizens and scanning the QRcode for fast travel and medical declaration.
- Photos, videos, audio, and files on the device can be stored for QRcode inspection when passing through citizen checkpoints.
- The user will receive notifications on their device.
Providing personal information: The user enters data, declares medical information, moves domestically, or declares on behalf of another person with their permission and consent. Personal information includes full name, phone number, citizen identification, gender, birth year, permanent address, nationality, health status, place of departure, destination, vehicle registration number, and if you have been exposed to COVID-19. By completing our forms and submitting them to us, the user permits us to collect their information.
It is the user's responsibility to determine whether or not they have the behavioral capacity to use and input information.
Data protection and copyright protection: User's data will be stored and secured by the National Population Data Center, Ministry of Public Security, and used only to prevent and control COVID-19, which helps protect health and prevent disease. It is forbidden to use this information for commercial or personal purposes. It is possible to share data with Health Authorities and other competent authorities to improve COVID-19 disease prevention.
In addition to the above purposes, the application developer does not collect or use any other information about the user. According to Vietnamese law or application policy, no information will be disclosed that may harm or violate the privacy of a user.
The location of your computer isn't tracked by VNeID.
A community can be joined anonymously by anyone who wishes to do so. It is only the competent authorities who can determine who is infected and who is suspected of being infected by close contact with a person with COVID-19 and provide tracing services.
